Czech Language Courses for Foreigners
We have been running Czech Language Courses for Foreigners for more than 20 years. Our goal is to provide language support to everyone regardless of age or country of origin and to help them overcome language barriers emerging from living in a new country. Courses are divided according to the knowlednge of Czech and some of these are primarily meant for applicants whose mother tongue does not belong to the Slavic language group.
The courses are held as part of the project "Integration of Temporary Protection Holders in Pilsen 2025", which is funded by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and implemented by the Department of Social Services of the Pilsen Municipality.
Basic Information
- the courses are free
- each course consists of 20 lessons (taking place once a week, in duration 90 minutes)
- the courses are held on weekdays, but weekends too
- the capacity is limited to 10-15 participants, based on the the course type
- to join the course, you need to register odkaz na příslušnou lištu? (with the exception of the open course Conversation for Advanced Learners)
- the courses for registered applicants always begin in January and June; however, you can register yourself during the whole year
- learners who accomplish their regular attendance of 75% and more will get a certificate of participation and a present from Magistrát města Plzně (the Municipality of Pilsen)
- we offer courses for children or adults – those are divided according to learners‘ language level into elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced

Where to find us
The courses are held in the premises of the councelling center for foreigners: Poradna pro cizince at the address: Cukrovarská 16, Pilsen
or in the classroom of the communicty center: Komunitní centrum at the address Sady 5. května 8, Pilsen
We kindly ask all those interested in a course with registration not to attend it without priot confirmation by the course coordinator.
This does not apply to the Conversation course for Advanced Learners on Thursday 18:30 – 20:00 at the address: Cukrovarská 16, Pilsen. This course is open for all learners all over the year up to the maximal capacity of each lesson is reached.
